Brazil state audits agchem sales
There had been 227 infringements in the sale of pesticides by May in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais this year, its Ministry of Agriculture says. Audits of 2,534 rural properties and over 1,800 distributors had been carried out. Distributors send half-year pesticide sale reports to the Ministry’s crop protection office, the IMA ( Agrow No 547, p 17). The office says that the reports enable the state to detail the sale of pesticides and more effectively inspect the market. It maps the sales of pesticide brands, active ingredients and which municipalities are purchasing what. Distributors have until July 7 to send this semester’s reports.
