Organic metal fungicide gets China patent
The preparation method for a chitooligosaccharide-metal complex fungicide, developed by the Institute of Oceanology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been granted a Chinese national patent of invention. The method involves the use of microwave radiation technology that reduces reaction time and secondary reactions. The fungicide is reportedly “highly-effective” against pathogenic bacteria in crops. The organic metal fungicide has “strong” potential for development, as it is “non-toxic and has no side effects”. It also has protective and growth enhancing uses in addition to its fungicidal effects, the Institute says. The method was developed by a group of researchers led by Li Pengcheng.
