Agrochemical use down on Brazil rust
Fewer applications of fungicides are likely this season against Asian soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi) in Brazil. The appearance of the disease occurred later this season than in 2005/06. In some regions, the first appearance of the disease occurred a month later than the previous year. Experts from the soybean division of the Brazilian agricultural research corporation, the Embrapa Soja, the Agriculture Ministry and Mato Grosso's soybean farmers' association, the Aprosoja, point to an improved outlook in the major soybean region, Mato Grosso.
