China develops rice planthopper insecticide

The Chinese agricultural research organisation, the Zhenjiang Institute of Agricultural Science, has developed a new combination insecticide for the control of rice planthoppers, reports the Chinese regional newspaper, the Zhenjiang Daily. The Institute has applied for a national patent for the insecticide, a 30% mixture of the antifeedant, pymetrozine, and the insecticide, isoprocarb, in wettable powder form. Jiangsu Lvdun Plant Protection Agrochemical Experimental has been granted sole authorisation to apply to the Ministry of Agriculture for field testing of the insecticide.
