UK court rejects buffer zones ruling

The UK Court of Appeal has rejected a High Court ruling that found deficiencies in the safety of pesticides “under the regime which presently exists”. The High Court had asked the country’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to take steps to produce an adequate assessment of the risks to residents living near fields following a complaint filed by the claimant, Georgina Downs ( Agrow No 557, p 14). The new ruling has granted the DEFRA the right to appeal the previous ruling.
