Chile to update agchem approval system
Chile is to “modernise” its pesticide registration system. New rules would take into account the experience of US and EU regulations based on the principle of minimum risk to public health, the Ministry of Agriculture says. It expects the revision to Resolution 3670/99, which regulates the current regime, to take three years to implement. The news came in the Ministry’s response to recommendations from the European Commission's Food and Veterinary Office (FVO). That followed a mission earlier this year to assess the control systems for pesticide residues in foodstuffs of plant origin.
