Brazil court OKs GM maize
The Brazilian provisional authorisation for sale of Bayer CropScience's genetically modified glufosinate-tolerant LibertyLink maize has been re-established. A federal judge made the decision earlier this month at the 4th division federal regional court in Porto Alegre. A judge had suspended the approval of Bayer's product following demands from several NGOs that the approval body, the CTNBio, present its arguments to the court (Agrow No 523, p 14). The judge in the original hearing ruled that the commission set biosafety measures before granting authorisation to sell.
