Certis Spain debuts Cerobin
Mitsui & Co's agrochemical subsidiary, Certis Spain, has launched Nippon Soda's benzimidazole fungicide, Cerobin 45 SC (thiophanate-methyl) in Spain. The product is for use against powdery mildew and Monilia spp on fruits; Fusarium spp and rust on cereals; and powdery mildew and grey mould (Botrytis cinerea) on some vegetables. It is the only remaining benzimidazole on the Spanish market, the company says. The European Commission approved the re-registration of the active ingredient two years ago (Agrow No 481, p 6), following its entry onto Annex I of the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414) in 2005. Certis named the ai among its pipeline products to boost earnings on the Iberian peninsula (Agrow No 478, p 2).
