BASF seeks saflufenacil approval

BASF has applied for US, Canadian and Australian approval for its new broadleaf herbicide, Kixor (saflufenacil). The company hopes to receive North American approvals in 2010. Further registrations are expected in South America, Asia and Europe. Originally developed as BAS 880 H, saflufenacil, is aimed at pre-plant burndown control of broadleaf weeds in maize, soybeans and small-grain cereals (Agrow No 529, p 4). It will also be targeted at burndown and residual control of broadleaf weeds in fruit orchards and for non-crop use.
