DBV criticises cross compliance

The German farmers' association, the DBV, has slammed the government's proposal to link EU subsidies with the use of agrochemicals. The proposal concerns the "cross compliance" system in the EU Common Agriculture Policy (CAP), which requires farmers to comply with certain environmental requirements in order to be eligible for subsidies. The DBV equates the move with "toughening" cross compliance requirements in the country, a scenario it calls "unacceptable".
