EU moots further residue talks with Russia
The European Commission has proposed that EU and Russian officials hold technical discussions on differences in maximum residue limits (MRLs) between the two regions. The aim is resolve trade problems in cases where Russian MRLs are set at levels lower than those applying in the EU. It is part of an agreement on residues that was formally signed between the two parties in Brussels in March. The deal was initialled at technical level in Moscow in February (Agrow No 539, p 13).
