Germany approves genetically modified sugar beet trials

The German federal office for consumer protection and food safety, the BVL, has approved field trials of genetically modified herbicide-resistant sugar beet plants. The company KWS (Einbeck) will be conducting the tests with their seeds at four sites across the country. "With the approval of the BVL to conduct the trials, KWS has received the option to carry out necessary research in Germany," the company comments.
