Brazil agrochemical sales down in 2006
Pesticide sales in Brazil are estimated to have fallen by 16.7% to R$8,300 million ($3,800 million) in 2006, according to the Chamber of Agricultural Inputs' report to the Ministry of Agriculture. The report predicts that 2007 will show signs of industry revival, but no significant improvements will be evident until 2008. Pesticide sales are not likely to increase for another year, the president of the Chamber, Cristiano Walter Simon, told Agrow. Pesticide sales in 2005 amounted to $4,424 million (Agrow No 501, p 19).
