US tolerance exemption for GM cotton?
The US EPA has notified the receipt of an application from Syngenta Seeds for a three-year extension to the tolerance exemption for the Bacillus thuringiensis VIP3A toxin in cotton. The tolerance exemption for genetically modified insect-resistant cotton is due to expire on May 1st 2007 (Agrow No 495, p 12). Delta and Pine Land (D&PL) acquired Syngenta's cotton business in 2006 (Agrow No 497, p 1). D&PL plans to introduce VipCot cotton in 2008 or 2009.
