Costa Rica adopts equivalency
Costa Rica has adopted the UN FAO's equivalence system for the testing and registration of generic pesticides. Decree 33495 was published in January to bring the country in line with the international system. Generic products accounted for 27% of the national market two years ago (Agrow No 468, p 17). The Costa Rican agrochemical industry association, the CIA, has advocated the adoption of the equivalence system to give manufacturers clear guidelines.
