DuPont cuts US jobs
DuPont is to cut 49 out of about 200 jobs at its US agrochemical and specialty chemical manufacturing facility in Axis, Alabama. The move is part of DuPont's restructuring of its crop protection and nutrition businesses, which will result in the elimination of some 1,500 jobs worldwide (Agrow No 501, p 1). In addition to the staff cuts at the Axis site, DuPont is seeking to reduce costs through energy reduction projects and improved use of materials, the company says. The moves are necessary to make the site more competitive in the long term, it points out.
