Bolivia doubles recycling
Bolivia doubled its recycling to 50.4 tonnes of pesticide containers in 2006, according to the Bolivian agrochemical industry association, the Apia. "The targets we set at the beginning of the year have been met and the recycling in 2006 was more than double that of 2005," the association says. The results mean that 10% of the available plastic is recycled. The Apia has gained agreements with large agricultural groups, such as the GPA, covering a 60,000 ha planting area, to recycle 30 tonnes of plastics a year. The collection and recycling of containers in 2006 included 19 tonnes to be completed from the previous year.
