No GMO (genetically modified organism) contamination in Portugal

There was no contamination of conventional maize crops from genetically modified maize in Portugal last year, the Ministry of Agriculture says. The Ministry carried out 30 inspections and found full implementation of legal requirements among farmers, it adds. Portugal passed a law in September 2005 regulating GM crop farming with the aim of assuring the co-existence and non-contamination between different lines.
