California pesticide illness study

One-third of pesticide-related illness reports investigated by the US California EPA's Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) in 2005 resulted from a single incident. The DPR examined symptoms reported by 324 people following the application of the fumigant, chloropicrin, through a drip irrigation system in a field in Monterey County. Pesticide exposure was judged to be the probable cause of the symptoms in 303 cases.
