US registration decisions up in fiscal 2006
The US EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) completed 1,347 registration actions subject to the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) in fiscal 2006. This represented a 23% increase over the 1,098 decisions in fiscal 2005 (Agrow No 492, p 14). The OPP completed 99.9% of actions within PRIA due dates in fiscal 2006. The two failures were due to confusion over a holiday and the need for additional time to reach a decision, the OPP points out. PRIA due dates were extended for 153 (11%) decisions by mutual agreement between the OPP and applicants.
