France finally transposes GMO (genetically modified organism) law
France has finally transposed the EU genetically modified organism registration Directive (2001/18) into national law. It has adopted Decree 2007-358, on distributing GM products, and Decree 2007-359, on placing GM products on the market. The government published the two Decrees in the French official journal on March 20th. The move puts an end to a four-year delay and ongoing clashes with the European Commission and the European Court of Justice (ECJ).
