New Canadian import scheme soon

The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has confirmed that the Grower Requested Own Use (GROU) programme will be implemented by July 2007. The scheme was put forward last year to address pesticide price differentials between Canada and the US, while dealing with concerns over the previous import system (Agrow No 500, p 14). A new data protection policy to facilitate the registration of generic pesticides (Agrow No 513, p 11) is also due to be put in place by July.
