Bayer's Brazil genetically modified bid demoted
Brazil's national technical committee for biosafety, the CTNBio, demoted Bayer CropScience's application for the marketing of its genetically modified maize on the agenda at its April meeting. A submission for a GM vaccine against the animal disease, blue tongue, topped the agenda as researchers, academics and seven environmentalist and political agrarian groups attended the meeting. They were present in anticipation of a vote on approving Bayer's glufosinate-tolerant LibertyLink maize. However, a lack of time meant that the vote did not take place.
