Dutch agrochemical law to be amended
The Dutch Ministry of Agriculture (LNV) is to amend its proposed pesticide and biocide law to bring it in line with EU guidelines. The decision follows a ruling by the Dutch Trade and Industry Appeals Tribunal that the proposed law fails to comply with EU guidelines. The Tribunal stresses that the law lacks preventative measures and could result in the approval of an agrochemical without fully accounting for risks to health and the environment. This omission "seriously threatens" compliance with EU pesticide and biocide guidelines, the Tribunal concludes.
