EU mulls GHS (globally harmonised system) impact on agrochemicals

EU proposals for implementing the UN globally harmonised system (GHS) of classification and labelling of chemicals lacks "significant benefits" for the agrochemical industry, says Phil Todd, HSE classification adviser at Syngenta. "Any savings resulting from harmonisation of hazard communication will be small in comparison to the total cost," he warned. Mr Todd spoke at an IIR agrochemical registration conference in Brussels, Belgium, in May.
