Honduras OKs agrochemical imports
Honduras is to import maize pesticides via temporary import licences. The July move is in response to a "food emergency", especially in maize, the Ministry of Agriculture says. "Accord 440-07 authorises the Senasa [the agricultural health service] to tender immediately the temporary import of pesticides for a period of 120 days," it adds. Only Senasa-registered importers, and those that have product approvals pending, can obtain the licences. Each import licence will last 30 days and a revalidation request may be made five days in advance of its expiry. All stocks of imports must be used or disposed of by December 31st.
