New Zealand bans clopyralid on lawns
The New Zealand Environmental Risk Management Authority (ERMA) has banned residential use of the herbicide, clopyralid, because of concerns over residues in grass clippings. The move follows an application by the New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development, which was worried about damage to plants grown in compost made from clopyralid-treated lawns. The ban will take effect from August 19th 2008. The ERMA has also prohibited the manufacture or import of 30 g/litre soluble concentrate formulations of the herbicide.
