Agrochemical companies face REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals)

Agrochemical companies need to prioritise their response to the new EU Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation to succeed in future, experts have warned. "REACH will affect every crop protection company and biocide business and requires the urgent attention of company personnel involved in the compliance process," said DuPont Crop Protection's European regulatory affairs manager, Jean-Pierre Busnardo, at the AgChem Forum conference in Berlin, Germany, in September. REACH was formally adopted into EU law in December last year and came into force earlier this year (Agrow No 510, p 7). Mr Busnardo suggested that companies implement a "workflow" to deal with the challenges that REACH poses to the industry.
