US approval for iodomethane

The US EPA has granted the first approval for Arysta LifeScience's fumigant, iodomethane. Midas (iodomethane 50% + chloropicrin 50%) is aimed at disease, pest and weed control in strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, stone fruit, nuts, grapevines, turf, ornamentals and nursery crops. The Agency has granted a one-year approval for iodomethane pending the completion of a group risk assessment of the established fumigants, 1,3-dichloropropene, methyl bromide, metam sodium, dazomet and chloropicrin (Agrow No 519, p 12).
