Argentina trails genetically modified maize sales
Argentina has established a traceability system for sales of Monsanto's recently approved genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant and insect-resistant maize, MGRR2 (NK603 x MON810). The Argentine national institute of seeds, the INASE, passed Resolution 285/07 at the start of September. It requires suppliers and distributors to sell the stacked trait maize only to users who have subscribed to a "Legal Declaration". That document "obliges parties to direct produce from the seed towards domestic consumption or for export only if subscribers reliably inform exporters, before delivery, of the presence of the events in the produce".
