Canada to end endosulfan use?

The Canadian authorities are considering phasing out the organochlorine insecticide, endosulfan. A preliminary risk assessment by the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) raises concerns for workers and the environment. It proposes listing the insecticide as a "Track 1" substance under the federal government's Toxic Substances Management Policy, which calls for the "virtual elimination" of such substances. The PMRA is seeking more data to refine its risk assessment before proposing regulatory action.
