Two dead at Syngenta Brazil clash
Two people have died following clashes between members of the Brazilian pressure group, the Via Campesina, and employees of a security firm contracted by Syngenta. The fighting occurred as members of the political group reoccupied Syngenta's seed research facility in Parana, Brazil, Syngenta says. The company repossessed the site in July following court orders and more than a year of occupation (Agrow No 525, p 2). It subsequently employed a security firm to guard the facility.
