UK PSD (Pesticides Safety Directorate) to cut approval times

Companies submitting new active ingredient applications in the UK should look forward to saving time and money by receiving approvals within nine months. The UK Pesticides Safety Directorate (PSD) seeks to cut its target times for processing applications, Peter Chapman of the Approval Committee told Agrow. The target time for evaluating new ais in 2006/07 was 48 weeks, with an 89% success rate (Agrow No 527, p 13). It expects to implement the shorter registration times by the end of this year.
