More delays in EU maximum residue limits slammed
Irish and UK officials have criticised the delay in drawing up lists of naturally occurring active ingredients that do not require maximum residue limits (MRLs). Such ais should already be in Annex IV of the EU pesticide MRL Regulation (396/2005), which seeks to harmonise MRLs across the EU (Agrow No 469, p 9). However, only Annex I, which lists crops and products, has so far been completed. European Commission proposals to establish Annexes II (for harmonised MRLs), III (for temporary MRLs) and IV had only reached the EU regulatory committee stage by October.
