Turkish genetically modified organism rules held up

Turkey is still developing a biosafety law on genetically modified crops, with draft legislation under review, the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) says. The Ministry of Agriculture prepared a draft law on GM crop use following Turkey's ratification of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and expected its adoption in 2004 and implementation the following year, the FAS adds. It is held up in the Parliament's Agriculture Committee.
