Agdia test kit for SmarStax component

The US diagnostics company, Agdia (Elkhart, Indiana), has introduced a test kit for the detection of the Bt Cry2Ab2 toxin in Monsanto’s genetically modified insect-resistant YieldGard VT PRO (MON89034) maize. The “Bt-Cry2A ImmunoStrip” can detect the toxin in leaves and seed within five minutes, the company says. YieldGard VT PRO is a component of Monsanto/Dow AgroSciences’ SmartStax maize, which received US and Canadian approvals this month (see this issue).
