Monsanto agrees Brazil GMO projects

Monsanto has agreed to co-operate on research projects in Brazil assessing genetically modified products with the public body, the Brazilian agricultural research corporation, the Embrapa. The projects include virus-resistant papaya trees, corn rootworm ( Diabrotica spp)-resistant maize and potatoes, and the susceptibility of lepidopteran pests to Bt toxins and insecticides. They are among seven new projects the entities aim to start by September, including others on drought and plant stress resistance.
