Nufarm acquires US sorghum operation
Nufarm has acquired the US sorghum seed company, Richardson Seeds (Vega, Texas), and its research affiliate, MMR Genetics, for an undisclosed sum. MMR Genetics was 47% owned by Richardson Seeds. The companies had combined revenues of some $22 million in 2008. Richardson Seeds is a leading producer of sorghum hybrids in the US, with expanding market positions in Mexico, South America, Europe, Japan and the Middle East, Nufarm points out. The acquisition complements Nufarm’s Australian sorghum seed business, Lefroy Seeds, which it bought last year ( Agrow No 553, p 1).
