EU provisional approvals extended for nine new ais
The European Commission has permitted EU member states to grant two-year extensions to provisional approvals for nine new active ingredients. The ais are: Agro-Kanesho's acaricide, acequinocyl; Dow AgroSciences' herbicide, aminopyralid; Citrex Nederland's fungicide, ascorbic acid; Isagro's fungicide, benalaxyl-M; Syngenta's fungicide, mandipropamid; Makhteshim-Agan Industries' insecticide, novaluron; DuPont's fungicide, proquinazid; and Bayer CropScience's acaricide, spirodiclofen, and insecticide, spiromesifen. The applications for the ais were submitted between 2001 and 2005. Provisional approvals initially last for three years to cover the period in which the ais complete the EU registration process. However, further data were requested and more time is needed for the evaluations, the Commission says.
