Brazil grants glyphosate GM maize use extension

Brazil has approved the use of the herbicide, glyphosate, on genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant maize. The approval follows that of glyphosate-tolerant maize over the past year ( Agrow No 553, p 22). The use extension is subject to a 30-day public comment period from July 29th. Brazil granted a use extension for the herbicide, glufosinate-ammonium, on GM maize earlier this year ( Agrow No 566, p 23). Glyphosate is approved on 26 crops in the country, including soybeans and other maize crops.
