BASF raises Brazilian agchem capacity
BASF is raising its agrochemical production capacity in Brazil at its facility in Guaratingueta, Sao Paulo. The company is investing €50.1 million ($71.8 million) by 2010. The funds will allow for a 50% increase in production capacity of crop protection products, including the fungicidal and insecticidal soybean seed treatment, Standak Top (pyraclostrobin + thiophanate-methyl + fipronil), the fungicides, Opera (pyraclostrobin) and Cantus (boscalid), and the insecticides, Standak (fipronil), Nomolt (teflubenzuron) and Imunit (teflubenzuron + alpha-cypermethrin). The company planned an extra €150 million ($214.8 million) last year to increase capacity by 2010 in four countries including Brazil ( Agrow No 549, p 1).
