Dow seeks US approval for DHT maize

Dow AgroSciences has applied for USDA clearance of its genetically modified herbicide-tolerant DHT maize. It is tolerant to broadleaf phenoxy herbicides such as 2,4-D and aryloxyphenoxy propionate (“fop”) graminicides. The DHT1 trait for maize is scheduled for commercialisation in the US in 2012. The DHT2 trait is aimed at soybeans and other broadleaf crops ( Agrow No 551, pp 9-10). Dow plans to introduce DHT soybeans in 2013 and DHT cotton in 2015.
