Australian chlorpyrifos review nears end
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has recommended that most uses of the organophosphate insecticide, chlorpyrifos, continue following a nine-year assessment of outstanding residue data. The APVMA forerunner, the National Registration Authority, completed an interim review of chlorpyrifos in 2000 ( Agrow No 362, p 20). However, maximum residue limits (MRLs) for most crops were based on minimal Australian or overseas data. The Authority established temporary MRLs and requested the submission of further data to confirm them.
