Canada follows US on carbofuran
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has proposed the phase-out of all uses of the carbamate insecticide, carbofuran. The proposed re-evaluation decision was posted on July 31st but a public notification was only made this month. The decision is subject to a 60-day comment period. In May, the US EPA issued a final rule revoking all carbofuran tolerances from December 31st 2009 ( Agrow No 568, p 15).
