EU Ministers adopt new agchem rules
EU Ministers have adopted new EU rules governing the registration and use of pesticides, thereby paving the way for the legislation to come into force later this year. The new laws are likely to be implemented in 2011, or 18 months after publication in the EU Official Journal, which is expected later this month. They were adopted as a formality by the Minsters' Competition Council in September. The actual text remains the same as that hammered out in a compromise reached between EU Environment Ministers, the European Parliament and the European Commission at the start of this year ( Agrow No 560, p 6).
