China drafts new pesticide industry policies
China is drafting a set of new policies to govern the country's pesticide industry, to be published later this year. The director of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) department of industrial policy, Mei Zubao, gave industry representatives a detailed “sneak peek” at the department's initial draft last month. He was speaking at the opening ceremony of AgrochemEx 2009 in Shanghai. The proposed policies have the general purpose of improving and stabilising pesticide production while consolidating and strengthening the Chinese pesticide industry as a whole.
