UK MRL violations down in 2008
Results of the annual monitoring study on food samples in the UK in 2008 showed maximum residue limit (MRL) violations in 1.2% of the tested samples, compared with the 2007 figure of 1.8% ( Agrow No 560, p 10). A total of 4,129 samples were tested for various pesticides, resulting in over 606,000 food and pesticide combinations. Samples with no residues accounted for 53.8% of the total, while 45% contained residues below MRLs. The study was conducted by the UK Pesticide Residues Committee.
