UK fund to promote new ai development
A £13 million ($20.7 million) fund has been created in the UK to help in the development of crop protection technologies, products and services that enable sustainable agricultural production, while complying with forthcoming EU regulations. The fund will be made available in the form of a competition entitled “New Approaches to Crop Protection”. It aims to tackle the possible loss of active ingredients as a result of the new EU rules on the registration and use of pesticides, which were adopted by EU Ministers last month ( Agrow No 577, pp 12-13). The investment will be jointly made available by the UK Technology Strategy Board (TSB), the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
