Syngenta adds atrazine to Callisto in US
Syngenta is to combine its established post-emergence maize herbicide, Callisto (mesotrione), with atrazine in the US next year. It expects to receive EPA approval for Callisto Xtra during the first quarter of 2010. Callisto Xtra is seen as a tank-mix partner for glyphosate in glyphosate-tolerant maize. The combination of mesotrione and atrazine will provide long-lasting residual control of broadleaf weeds, Syngenta says. It will also act as a resistance management tool, the company adds.
