EFSA updating GMO guidance

Work on updating guidelines on assessing genetically modified products is being finalised, says the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The guidance is being discussed by the European Commission and EU member states before it is presented for voting, said Howard Davies of the EFSA's GMO Panel at an EFSA conference in September. It concerns the risk assessment of GM plants and derived food and feed. The EFSA held a public consultation on its proposals in 2008 ( Agrow No 548, p 10).
